US-INDIA: LEMOA 2016

           INDO US NUCLEAR RELATIONS LEMOA'16

It is acceptable that Definitive change in the policy do not happen all of  a sudden;often it takes a hell lots of time, agreements and disagreements aswell. The three days US visit to India with Defence secretary Ashton Carter appears to create a new paradigm which can  be a sign of new defence ties between the two nations. This deal was a clear sign and warning of engagement of the Indian military power with the US in times of peace and war  for repair and replenishment of the equipment;which was an issue which was not favoured by the UPA Government.Defence minister in 2004 was too intrusive to the NAM(1961) signed by Pt Nehru. The efforts to ramp up the bilateral ties as India and US came up emphasised on the navigation and need of international based order, in an apperent reference to south china sea and growin ties with Pakistan. The agreement though, does not entail stationing of the troops in India as Defence minister pointed out. While the agreement is reciprocal, one needs to keep in mind the dynamics between the global power and the aspiring global power. What is,however left unsaid in the discussion between the two counterparts is India emerging as a counter balance to the rising China in the asia-pacific region. The much delayed argument could pave the way for collaboration with US in defence arena.New Delhi must consider the repercusions that the strategic alliance with US may affect ties with other neighbouring nation. However,US funding to Pakistan in defence remained undiscovered in this crucial talk which lands US to fruits in both the hands. However, the remarkable improvement in our relation with US has been the most significant development in india's external relations since last decades which involved nuclear pact signed during UPA regime. We already have suffered from the US sanction of nuclear and high technology sectors during the nuclear test in 1974.US policies particularly with regard  to pakistan have been seriously damaging our security. In this background the shifts towards growing mutual growing confidence, wide ranging political, economic and security related engagement in recent has been unprecedented.
